Nepal villagers step up efforts to save cancer-treating yew trees, but challenges remain

Until migrant labor began returning home from India and the Middle East starting in early June, Nepal had relatively fewer Covid-19 cases, numbering less than a thousand. The consequent 10-fold increase in coronavirus cases brought the tally to 12,000 by the end of June. This significant uptick compounded pre-existing issues of corruption, ineptness, and the marginalization of vulnerable communities – and, overall, the people’s woes.
