Tobacco cultivation: 30,000 northern families at health risk
Bangladesh l The Daily Star
Bangladesh echoes the experience of many countries that are overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the Covid-19 pandemic. This fact stands in stark relief against the state of the South Asian country’s poor public health infrastructure despite an almost 7 percent average annual growth, which is projected to get scaled down to a mere 2 percent for this year, experts warn. A severe shortage of testing kits has left many cases undetected in the country, and has raised doubts on the accuracy of reported numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases and fatalities.
